If you only have a few days to spare and would like to combine the Sahara in your itinerary, then this 3-day tour from Marrakech is ideal for you.
Explore the endless desert and ride a camel over the sand dunes while enjoying sunset and sunrise over the rolling dunes of Erg Chebbi.
Stay overnight in a traditional tented camp in the desert and admire the shooting stars.
En route to the desert you will visit the historic kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou and the impressive Todra Valley. Throughout the trip you will be accompanied by a local guide who will share valuable insights about the local culture, history and geography.
3-day trip overview
Morning Adventure
After breakfast, you and your guide will set off on a hike through the valley to the Todra Gorges, one of the most stunning spots in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains. With canyon walls soaring over 400 meters high, the Todra Gorge has a prehistoric feel.
Your hike will conclude with a brunch picnic in the valley, with freshly baked bread, olive oil and olives.
Following this, you’ll visit Erfoud, renowned for its unique and precious fossils. This area, once underwater millions of years ago, now offers a chance to discover various types of fossils.
Journey to the Sahara
As you drive towards the Sahara, you’ll witness the landscape gradually change, from barren mountain slopes to green valleys. Your journey ends at the small Saharan settlement of Merzouga, at the edge of the desert.
Upon arrival, embark on your desert adventure aboard your own camel. You’ll take a one-hour ride across the Erg Chebbi sand dunes as the sun sets, painting the surrounding sea of sand in stunning red-orange hues. The ever-changing dunes, shaped by the Sahara wind, forming beautiful, rolling ridges and valleys.
Back at camp, your hosts will prepare a hearty Moroccan feast, after which you’ll spend the night in a comfortable tent under the stars.

You’ll have the driver and the vehicle exclusively for yourself throughout the entire trip.
The driver will be at the riad at 8:00 AM sharp. Please make sure you are ready and waiting at the reception of the accommodation.
You will return to Marrakech on your last day, with arrival expected between 8:00 and 9:00 PM, depending on traffic. If you have a flight on this day, please schedule it for no earlier than midnight.
